In addition to the students who qualify to attend the SLC, a chapter may bring four (4) additional students to the state conference. Therefore, a common question is whether a chapter can bring four students and the two additional voting delegates, or are the voting delegates counted among the four additional students?
Student attendance at the SLC is based on the following:
Each student attending must be an active dues-paid member of Business Professionals of America. Each member must also meet one of the following criteria:
- A regional assessment event winner
- A Statesman Torch Award recipient
- A state executive council candidate; candidates may not serve as voting delegates unless a chapter has less than two students attending the conference
- A member selected by the local chapter advisor (maximum of four members per chapter)
- Voting delegates, campaign managers, parade representatives, etc. must meet at least one of the above qualifications; students may serve as both campaign manager and voting delegate
- Students officially registered to participate in national virtual competitions sponsored by National BPA, with a clear plan of activities to attend and participate in during the state conference
Therefore, voting delegates must be included as part of the four (4) additional students a chapter may bring.
